Cycling Tips
Don't Compromise Seat Position To Improve
Reach - Sometimes, if it feels like the handlebars are too far away (or too
confining), you might be tempted to slide the seat forward to reduce the reach.
Don't do it! This might solve the reach problem. But, to minimize injury risks
and maximize pedal power, seat position must be based on your relationship to
the pedals. So, you can cause problems if you move the seat to solve the reach
issue. The correct solution is to leave the seat alone (assuming its position is
correct) and change the stem (the part that holds the handlebars) for a shorter
(or longer) one. We can help if you need to make changes.
Outsmart Bike Thieves - To keep
your bike from being stolen, secure it in a visible, well-lit area, which will
force the thief to operate in plain view. This may get him to pass on your
machine and find another. And, don't routinely lock your baby in the same place
all the time. A crook may notice the pattern and pick your bike as an easy
target. Similarly, if you leave your rig outside a movie theater, a thief may
realize there's a strong chance that you won't be out until the movie's over,
which gives him time to get the tools he needs to swipe your ride. Also, if you
store your bike in the garage, leave the door closed and consider locking the
bike to something because you never know who might spot the bike when the door
is open and come back later to steal your pride and joy.
